Geerish Hookoomsing and Jason Maulette: successful HR mentoring

After six years leading Human Resources at Panagora, Geerish Hookoomsing handed over the HR department's helm to Jason Maulette. Now Head of Organizational Excellence at Les Moulins de la Concorde since March 1st, Geerish Hookoomsing looks back with satisfaction on a job well done.
"I've always believed in people, in their ability and potential. I passed on everything I’ve learned, and I give back everything life has given me; it's my legacy. If I’ve made a difference in the lives of those I’ve worked with, then I am happy." In fact, several young people who started their careers with him are now HR managers in various sectors. One of them is the CEO of a clinic in Plaines-Wilhems. Jason Maulette is one of those who make Geerish proud.
His new role at LMLC involves reviewing the HR department and supporting the daily progression of employees. He began his career at Madun Gujadhur QC Chambers, handling industrial and criminal cases. In the late 1980s, he joined the HR departments of two large textile groups before moving to an offshore company at Rogers and Valmet Ltd as Administrative Manager. He then spent several years as HR Director at Naïade Resorts and Heritage Resorts. In 2016, he joined Panagora.
Geerish Hookoomsing was an HR Director who remained close to the ground and at the heart of his teams. He enjoys being close to his collaborators and has always valued the good atmosphere between them. "It’s a close-knit team, proud to work for Panagora." For him, this explains why employees gave their best during the first two lockdowns. "All employees worked tirelessly during this time. Faced with adversity, they weren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. And that’s what makes them strong," he says with a hint of emotion.
But he is happy to have passed the baton to Jason Maulette, now Head of HR at Panagora. "I left with peace of mind." He cannot praise the 33-year-old, a mechanical enthusiast and DIY lover, enough. Jason joined Panagora in 2015 as HR Coordinator. "I saw his potential. He is brilliant, diligent, honest, and respectful." Like a sponge, Jason absorbed information, know-how, and knowledge. Union negotiations, implementing the annual review (PMS), and of course, all the administrative hurdles with authorities during the two lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 were rich learning experiences for him. Jason Maulette couldn’t have hoped for a better learning opportunity.
He says he went to the right school. "Geerish was an amazing coach who trusted me and helped me set things up. I helped him with several projects." The transition went smoothly. Jason Maulette already has several projects in the works, with the most significant being the renewal of the collective agreement with the unions, the implementation of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and employee training. He certainly has a lot on his plate!
