Duties and Responsibilities

A pioneer in the Mauritian dairy industry, Maurilait is seeking a Purchasing Manager to contribute to the development of its purchasing strategies. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in structuring and optimizing procurement operations. He/she will benefit from the expertise of our international franchisors (Yoplait and Candia) and collaborate with renowned suppliers and service providers.

The Purchasing Manager, overseeing our Purchasing department, will be responsible for the following:

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with the company’s short-, medium-, and long-term objectives.
• Lead suppliers’ negotiations, build and maintain suppliers’ relationships, and conduct suppliers’ assessments.
• Enhance knowledge and competence within the purchasing team, provide guidance, and establish clear development pathways.
• Identify opportunities for suppliers’ consolidation and diversification to improve efficiency and reduce risks
• Stay informed and report on new trends, changes in supply and demand, and industry developments.
• Develop and maintain a sharp market intelligence service to track price trends and the availability of raw materials.
• Prepare and manage purchasing budgets, ensuring strict cost monitoring and control.
• Travel regularly to food fairs, and visit both local and international suppliers.

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Operations.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
• Strong cost analysis and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
